Requirements

  1. Passport

    • Original valid signed passport

    • Photocopy of the information page with your picture, name, and signature

    • Passport should have at least two blank visa pages side by side

    • Passport should be valid for more than six months before expiry

    • Ensure name and signatures on the passport match the application(s) you are completing

  2. Photographs

    For electronic photo submissions, please ensure that the following criteria are met:

    • Taken within the last six months against an all-white background

    • Shows a full frontal view of your head, with your face centered in the middle

    • Includes the tops of your shoulders and displays a neutral (non-smiling) expression, with eyes open, mouth closed, and ears visible

    • No background light or shadows are permitted

    • Avoid wearing eyeglasses, jewelry, or headwear, except for religious purposes

    • Do not wear a white shirt

    If you choose to submit a physical photograph, it must adhere to the following specifications:

    • Exactly 48 mm tall by 33 mm wide

    • Printed on high-quality photo paper

    • Not affixed to your application, with no evidence of adhesive tape or staples

    • Note that most passport photo vendors produce photos that are 2 inches by 2 inches and are not acceptable. We cannot submit applications with incorrectly formatted photographs

    • Must not be taken in uniform

  3. Student Visa Application Form

    Please provide one fully completed and signed visa application form. The application must:

    • Be completed through this website

    • Include responses for all mandatory fields

    • Display the traveler's name exactly as written in the passport

    • Be printed single-sided

    • Be dated and signed using blue or black ink

    • Be included with all other documents in your visa application kit

    • Have your signature on the declaration confirmation page, as well as in section 9.1A

  4. Copy of Driver’s License (Front & Back)

    The home address you provide on the visa application form must match the address displayed on your driver's license.

  5. Proof of State Residency

    You are required to submit proof of your current residential address. These documents should include a copy of the front of your driver's license or government ID, as well as your most recent utility bill. Please ensure that:

    • Your name matches the one on your passport

    • The current residence address matches the one provided on your visa application

    Please note: When providing a utility bill, the consulate accepts electric, gas, or water bills only; phone and cable bills are not accepted.

  6. School Admissions Letter

    Please submit the original and a photocopy of the official letter of admission from the school or university you plan to attend.

  7. Proof of Travel

    Please provide a copy of the confirmed/purchased flight itinerary or e-Ticket indicating your arrival and departure from mainland China. If your international flight itinerary includes flights to or from Hong Kong, please include supplementary documentation demonstrating your travel into and out of mainland China, such as an additional flight itinerary.

Note: Prior Travel to Turkey

If you've visited Turkey before and have Turkish visas or entry stamps in your passport, you'll need to include a letter detailing your travel history.

  • List the dates of entry and exit for each visit to Turkey.

  • Specify the purpose of your travel to Turkey, such as tourism or business meetings.

  • The letter must be signed by the applicant.

  • Attach any available copies of flight itineraries or eTickets from your trips to Turkey.

Please be aware that processing may be delayed if you have a history of travel to Turkey.

Note: Additional requirements for applicants with Military Service History

Chinese Consulates in the United States mandate that applicants with a military service background submit a copy of their military discharge document and/or a signed personal statement.

This statement should confirm their

  • country and branch of service,

  • dates of service, rank, occupation or specialty, location of service, and any other relevant details.

It's strongly advised to locate your discharge certificate before initiating the visa application process.
